I love this. One of the guys on my programme a few years ago was in his 80s and his GlycanAge was 40s. He’s had a long, happy marriage, low stress, vegetarian diet, lots of walking outdoors, maintains a healthy weight, is social and still doing a job he loves (repairing musical instruments). Good health can be simple and doesn’t have to cost anything. It’s all about basic daily habits 👍Thanks for sharing Vanja Maganjić Gordan Lauc Nikolina Lauc Zorrie Dimitrova GlycanAge

I started my first business aged 19. Here’s what I’ve learnt about building startups - and why this flower is a perfect example. These are my top tips:1. Prioritise your health above everything else!- Startups are beyond stressful. - Your business baby will devour you. - You have to be VERY physically and mentally strong to survive. Business schools should teach wellness tools and mental resilience as Module 1 before anything else. Startups can seriously damage your health and your life if you’re not prepared. 2. When you’re out of the R&D phase, and finally have the product / service that works, it isn’t always the one you were expecting and that’s ok!- This flower in my garden is a prime example- I’ve planted and watered it for many many months but thought it was something else- Then this unexpected pink flower shot up from nowhere last week!- Who cares. It’s actually more lovely than what I thought I’d planted. - The R&D phase is intended to test and change your plans. Go with it and just be relieved that a product actually emerged from your R&D at all. 3. Only invest your valuable and limited time on the early adopters (time is money)- Once your product / service is superb and firing on all cylinders the sales and comms fun starts!- WARNING ⚠️ only invest your time on the early adopters. i.e. Those who understand your vision and product / service and want to be at the cutting edge. There will be many hundreds and thousands of others who express interest but will then ghost you for months, sometimes years (sadly this practice appears to be becoming worse every year and is suffocating UK startups). If they don’t “get it”, move on. Circle back around to them occasionally when you have time. It’s the early adopters who will get you to the next level and applaud your work 👏👏👏 Everyone else will follow once it’s a success. 4. Remember that it’s innovative startups that help the world make progress.- Be proud to be the founder of a startup. It’s worth the blood, sweat, tears and bankruptcies 😆 How is your startup journey going?Or are you an early adopter and enjoy seeking and supporting new ideas and products that emerge from startups?Let me know your thoughts!#startups#founder#innovation

Here’s what I discovered about subjective ageing and health at Glastonbury this weekend. I’ve been researching and applying the effects of music on the brain and body for over 30 years now. Five years ago I wrote a book called The Music Diet to try and promote and raise awareness of the benefits of music for health. More recently I’ve been examining the effects of subjective age on ageing, and the effects of music on subjective ageing. There’s nowhere better than the Glastonbury Festival to witness this in real life. The audience is still bursting with vibrant music lovers now aged 50-70s still embracing the pop, rock and electronic music they grew up with, and maintaining a vibrant, youthful energy. The same goes with the performers. Lulu and Cyndi Lauper, aged 70s, nailed their performances (despite sound issues in Cyndi’s set) and exude vibrant energy and a youthful attitude. All around the site the effects of music on subjective ageing were evident. Music keeps your inner fire burning 🔥 Especially when it’s the music you experienced during your youth. Are you using music to its fullest extent in your employee well-being programme?I don’t mean an office choir.I mean a properly thought out and executed plan that harnesses ALL the benefits of music and sound in the workplace and for WFH. I’ve yet to find an employer who is doing so. Remember, the ears lead to the brain. It’s a very powerful and fast-acting biohack. I’ll be publishing my work in this subjective ageing area next year in my new book. (Working title “Impossible Health?”)Let me know if your employee wellness programme properly embraces music?#musicdiet#employeewellness#ageing

For employers wanting to support the well-being of their staff (and suppliers) here is the most valuable thing you can do for them.Pay them well and pay them on time. The mental and physical damage caused by financial stress is huge. Many people are facing mortgage rate hikes this year. Myself included. Over the next 5 years that few percentage points increase is going to cost me an extra £25,000.Modern life has become problematically expensive in the last few years. The things we’ve got used to are now becoming even more out of reach. It’s not just the mortage….petrol, eating and drinking, energy prices, labour, insurance, pet insurance. The list goes on and it’s all become more expensive. Salaries are not keeping up. Your yoga classes, burnout workshops, gut health webinars and menopause masterclasses are only touching the surface of the wellness problem if you’re not paying them enough money. Has all this hit your finances? What non-necessities have you scrapped in order to keep your costs down?#mentalhealth#employees#hr

Taylor Swift gave us all a Masterclass at Wembley yesterday and these 2 things particularly stood out.1. She arrived on stage dead on 6.30pm (unlike Madonna - who I love - who kept us waiting for more than an hour at her show last year)2. She doesn’t need big complex dance routines to entertain. She mostly just walked, skipped and bounced around for over 3 hours. Well done Tay Tay. 👏 A superb show. A great night with Jane Carter and Mark Gill

Almost 500 employee health professionals registered for our live webinar yesterday, showing once again the level of interest in what we’re talking about. Less is more when it comes to wellness. Stop bombarding workforces with content.

It’s time to put prevention firmly at the core of the national health strategy but with a NEW approach. All the existing ones have not worked and there are specific reasons why they are flawed models. It’s pointless punting out the same old messaging when we know why it doesn’t work. We need to support people in their quest to make a few small adjustments to a handful of critical daily habits. Simple, low effort and FREE adjustments that align highly with our evolutionary biology. Here’s how:- Teach them some basic evolutionary science so they can see how they are wired- Hold their hand with daily check-ins (with a human not a bot or app) while they try and make a tiny adjustment to ONE habit until it’s their new forever normal This is what I’ve been researching for the past 5 years and what I presented in the Holidity & Make A Difference Summits webinar today. The comments in the chat during that session demonstrated again that what I’m doing and saying is aligning with what people are now thinking. It’s time to update our preventative health approach and roll it out to the nation pronto. What are your thoughts?#habits#employees#health

Are you experiencing low mood and high stress? It’s not suprising given how many complex modern factors are pouring pressure on us right now. - The cost of living is a stressor - Feeling undervalued (financially and/or professionally) at work is a stressor - The general overwhelm of the “to-do” list is a stressorThis situation requires your core pillars of wellness to be absolutely rock solid to attempt to survive this modern world, let alone thrive in it. I urge you to take some time to get in the driving seat of your ancient biology. Not with expensive and high effort diet and fitness approaches but with some simple habit tweaks that can transform your existence. Go to bed earlier. Get early morning daylight. Breathe slower. Eat less. Stand more. There are evolutionary reasons these simple daily habits have such a significant effect. #mood#habits#linkedinnewseurope
