It obviously hasn't been immediate if there is a "gifting" of status. My girlfriend is at 24572 MQMs and there has been no immediate change to her account. Guess I'll wait a few days and see.

As for me, going me as a PM going for a softlanding (only 47500 MQMs this year) that will have to wait until March 1.

Soft Landing Gold to Silver?

Quick question (sort of, ha): While living in DC, I traveled constantly for work. Almost always out of DCA and always on either AA, DL, or US. During this time I achieved AA Platinum, DL Silver, and US Silver. Since the DL FAs were always more helpful than the AA ones, as well as ground crew, I faxed Delta for a status match to my AA Platinum. Within three days I had received Gold Medallion to match my AA PLT status.

Shortly thereafter, I took a new position in Dallas and now almost solely fly AA although do fly Delta sometimes as well. So my question is this: Does Delta do a soft landing to no status like AA? Will I receive Silver Medallion Status this year even though I didn’t fly enough on DL to requalify for even Silver? And how does this affect everything if they do indeed do soft landings but I had a status match. Do they take that into account?

Also, if I do end up with Silver status until Feb ’09, does anyone have experience with getting Silver UGs out of DFW and how often do they occur? I actually ended up getting them often enough out of DCA surprisingly enough during the short time I was Silver until they matched my AA PLT status.

THANKS so much!:)

Actually, there was a thread toward the end of '07 that DL was going to do soft landings at every level. Not sure if you would qualify as a status match and haven't heard much about it since then (I requaled GM), but maybe this bump will provide some insight.

Or, you could just log in to your SM account and see if you show FO.

As for FO UPGs out of DFW, I've had very good luck as GM. I don't see any reason why DFW would be any worse than the FO average luck of 25-50 percent, IME.

DL status matched you hoping to incent you to fly more with them.
That did not happen as you did not even fly 25K miles with them last year.

What is DL"s incentive to grant you even FO status this year?

Soft landing would be nice, but how does that benefit the airline?

"We've noticed you're flying less these days.

But we value your past loyalty and will continue to work diligently to earn your business in the future. To thank you for your continued support, we will provide you with complimentary Silver Medallion® status through February 2009."

Delta apparently gave me a soft landing from GM->FO.

Except it's irrelevant because I qualified for FO with > 25k MQM in 2007 anyways. Brilliant IT department over there.

When does the new level show up on Delta's website? I was gold in 2007 but didn't even fly 25K MQMs last year to make silver. Still shows me as gold at delta.com though.

Your old status doesnt expire until 29 Feb 2008. Any new status would be effective on 1 March.

It was done last year and seems to be the case this year as well.

True in my case. I was PM last year and only flew 48-49K MQMs. My GM envelope arrived in today's mail.

BamaVolFeb 8, 2008 10:21 pm

I received a soft landing for 2008. I was PM last year through multiple miracles and MRs and stopped travelling in September with a job change. I was at 48.8M MQM. I got my GM package today. I was GM 2004-2006. I can't say it's good to be back, but it's more than I earned and I hope to enjoy it on my few flights this year.

Soft landing for me. I had ~48,000 MQMs and got my Gold Medallion packet today.

I also soft-landed from Gold to Silver. The news came by letter from RealDLInsider yesterday. I am very happy, because I am already halfway to Silver now and this will motivate me to try to earn back Gold.

All times are GMT -6. The time now is 10:54 pm.
